After Amra and her mother pick up Hawra from the airport, she eavesdrops on the women's intimate conversation, while pretending to be asleep in the car. Catapulted into a space between childhood innocence and adult reality, Amra must choose whether to reveal a tragedy she has innocently discovered.
十歲的Amra (艾姆拉) 坐在媽媽車子的後座,到機場接回姨媽 Hawra (荷瓦)。在她迷迷糊糊半睡半醒之間,偷偷聽著兩位女性的對話,得知到姨媽不愉快婚姻的私密細節。在旅程停歇時,她發現了關於其中一位大人的悲慘消息,面臨是否要擔起這消息的抉擇。
Director's bio
Indian-Pakistani Hong-Konger Fatema Abdoolcarim makes films, food, and writes. With an education in photography she taught herself fi lmmaking using her DSLR camera and voice. Her directorial debut HEIDI (2016, short documentary-essay) premiered at Locarno, and screened at Sundance Hong Kong. Her fi lmmaking journey continued as collaborator on two feature-documentaries with Juan Palacios. Their most recent, MESETA (2019) won awards at CPH:DOX, L'Alternativa, MajorDocs. Fatema’s debut narrative-short, SWEET LIME, premiered at ZINEBI International Festival of Documentary and Short Film Bilbao (2023), and received Special Mention at Osaka Asian Film Festival (2024). She was invited to be a jury member for the New Visions Competition at CPH:DOX 2024. In 2021 Fatema received her PhD in Creative Writing from University of Manchester. Her research reimagines visual representations of Muslim women.
