Anemoia
2024 | 16 min | In Cantonese and English with English subtitles | Dir Christopher Li
When a despondent girl tells her estranged father about her intentions to move abroad, conflicting feelings and internalised emotions from her upbringing in Hong Kong boil to the surface.
Director’s statement
'Anemoia' was originally conceived as a personal family-centric narrative, following a parent-child relationship in the backdrop of Hong Kong’s current social climate. In time, themes such as identity politics, cultural dissonance, and inter-generational differences came naturally into the heart and soul of what the film is truly about.
