Director’s statement
The film is derived from a text written by the director based on his experiences living in mainland China, Hong Kong and Paris. The voice-over reads this text continuously. It shows a never-ending journey, whose landscapes may or may not resemble those of the aforementioned cities. It deals with confinement, walls, both tangible and intangible, people in exile and the sharing of nightmares. ‘You can never escape the walls that enclose you: those outside want to get in, those inside want to get out.’ The director tries to show this feeling of imprisonment through loops of motifs and a circular narration.
